Thessaloniki in August 2021
We think long-distance travel is still too risky for us because of the pandemic. So why travel far away when Greece is so close.
No sooner said than done, we're going to Corfu by car. The journey takes us via Hungary, Serbia and North Macedonia to Thessaloniki. In Thessaloniki we spend 3 days to get to know the city better.
At the " Hotel LUXEMBOURG " we booked a room on the internet. The reception is very friendly and the room is small, but clean and functional. The hotel is only a few steps away from the harbor promenade. Many of the sights can also be reached in a short time.

A stroll along the harbor promenade, the white tower, the harbor tour with the pirate ship, the many churches and above all the archaeological museum are an absolute must for us and a program for the coming days. We are completely surprised by the many good and original restaurants in Thessaloniki. Only one eatery, in the Ladadika District, has both bad food and bad service.
Under no circumstances should the markets be left out of the tour program:
Bezesteni Market, Athonos Place, Modiano Market, Kapani (the Vlali Market)
A special tip for gifts or gourmets:
Olicatessen, Viktoros Ougko 4, Thessaloniki, Greece,

Olicatessen is a modern Greek grocery store in the heart of the oldest business district in central Thessaloniki. The business sources high quality products from Greek companies in all regions of Greece (e.g. honey).
