KHURI to OSIYAN, JODHPUR

On the way to JODHPUR, the blue city, lies OSIYAN with its famous Jaina and Brahman temples. Even a visit to a temple is worthwhile, because the stone carvings are masterful. The photos are from the SACHIYA MATA TEMPLE.

At about 4:30 pm we reached Jodpur, where we stayed at the hotel TAJ HARI MAHAL JODHPUR. A really nice, modern hotel in the old style, with great rooms.

In the morning at 08:30 clock we started the sightseeing tour with the MOREANGARH FORT. Also, this fort is worth seeing with its facades and premises and the views of "the blue city" beautiful. Next we drove to the CHATTRI OF JASWANT SINGH II. A truly royal burial site and incredibly beautiful. The palace UMAID BHAWAN, which we visited next, is not beautiful, at most imposing by its size. It was much nicer to explore the market lanes around the clock tower and to observe the most diverse dealers and their customers.

An der Strecke nach JODHPUR, der blauen Stadt, liegt OSIYAN mit seinen berühmten Jaina- und Brahmanentempel. Schon der Besuch eines Tempels lohnt sich, denn die Steinmetzarbeiten sind meisterlich. Die Fotos sind vom SACHIYA-MATA-TEMPEL.

Gegen 16:30 Uhr erreichten wir Jodpur, wo wir im Hotel TAJ HARI MAHAL JODHPUR übernachteten. Ein wirklich sehr schönes, modernes Hotel im alten Stil, mit tollen Zimmern.

Am Morgen um 08:30 Uhr starteten wir die Besichtigungstour mit dem MEHRANGARH FORT. Auch dieses Fort ist mit seinen Fassaden und Räumlichkeiten sehenswert und die Aussichten auf „die blaue Stadt“ wunderschön. Als nächstes fuhren wir zum CHATTRI OF JASWANT SINGH II. Eine wahrhaft königliche Begräbnisstätte und unglaublich schön. Der PALAST UMAID BHAWAN, den wir als nächstes besuchten, ist nicht schön, höchstens imposant durch seine Grösse. Wesentlich schöner war es, die Marktgassen rund um den Uhrturm zu erkunden und die verschiedenartigsten Händler sowie deren Kunden zu beobachten.
