SEYCHELLES

The Seychelles, dream holiday or mass tourism? What happened to the interesting main island of Mahe and the paradise islands of Praslin and La Digue?

Already in 1997 we visited these beautiful islands. Now we want to see how much tourism has changed the Seychelles.

                                                                                 MAHÈ

An island for explorers and with a multitude of beautiful viewpoints.

With the tips in the "Seychelles, Polyglott on tour guide", there is plenty to discover and to hike.
The capital, Victoria, has not been spared the global social and technical developments. It is therefore not surprising that a huge illuminated advertisement is placed on a building behind the landmark of Victoria, the Clock Tower.
The beautiful bays of the island are almost like 20 years ago, but now more people are on the beach!
The hotel Kempinski has very competent and very friendly staff. The food was wonderful and also the room with the room service was perfect. Disturbing were guests who came to dinner in swimshorts!

Overall, Mahè is still a very recommendable holiday destination!

PRASLIN

Our favorite island!
By bus, bicycle, taxi or on foot are many beautiful beaches and sights to reach.
Vallèe de Mai with the Seychellan nut palms (Coco de Mer) exudes an unforgettable charm to all visitors.
Equally memorable is the visit at Anse Lazio. A dreamlike beach with soft sand, slowly deepening. In the shallow water, sting-bones are observed. While snorkeling the diversity of marine life with schools of fish and coral can be admired.
The Hotel Domaine de la Reserve is located in a very nice and quiet bay. Except for the somewhat unfriendly reception at the front desk it was a very pleasant stay.

Praslin remains our favorite island!

LA DIGUE

Explore the island with the ox-carcase, let the soul dangle on secluded beaches and bathe naked.
That was 20 years ago !!!
Today there are more tourist beds than locals, good roads, trucks, some taxis and many, many cyclists with day tourists. The most famous beaches are crowded from the late morning to the afternoon and the beach bars with fruit and drinks are well organized.
With a very friendly taxi driver we make a first exploration to the north and then to the Anse Fourmis in the east. Follow the same path back to the hotel and then south through the main town of La Passe to Grand Anse.
From the hotel Le Domain de L`Orangeraie, we walk a few minutes on foot to Anse Severe. Very nice to snorkel, but at low tide the deep water is only poorly accessible.

The hotel Le Domain de L`Orangeraie is located on a mountain slope with dense woodland.
Very nice and friendly staff, very good buffet with chilled cheese and sweets showcases. From our villa with terrace, we have a great view to the sea and to the opposite island Praslin.

La Digue is a beautiful "Postcard Island"!
